Healthy Active by Design national launch

Delegates from all over Australasia headed to Perth in early May for the National Planning Institute (PIA) Congress. As a sponsor, National Heart Foundation was very engaged in the program with a “City to Surf” study tour of the Perth metropolitan coastal region, walk tour of the Elizabeth Quay and the newly opened Yagan Square development and a round table with the Copenhagenize Design Co, a keynote speaker. Interaction and learning on the move was high on the agenda with delegates using public transport, riding bikes, walking through developments and learning about various aspects of case studies on site.

Short presentations and Q & As were provided by a range of stakeholder partners related to the delivery of projects including the Cities of Joondalup and Wanneroo, URBI, Satterley, Lendlease and Peet and Co and URBIS. The unseasonably mild weather showcased Perth and its unique relationship to its coastal beaches and river foreshore to the visiting delegates many of whom were taking the opportunity to extend their visit to see other areas of the State. The Congress coincided with the National launch of the revamped Healthy Active by Design website (HAbD) providing an opportunity to cross promote this awarded resource to over 650 Congress delegates.
